ANZACC Midwest is delighted to invite members and friends to the 2018 Down Under Soirée – celebrating Australia Day and Waitangi Day – at LondonHouse Chicago | Curio Collection by Hilton on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 7:00pm to midnight.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception followed by a seated dinner and live performance by our special guests, New Zealand’s Marla Kavanaugh & America’s Beloved Tenor, Daniel Rodriguez. It will also include the Australia-US Midwest Awards for Outstanding Achievement, a raffle draw benefiting Heartland Alliance, business networking, a themed photo booth, DJ, and dancing, of course.
After a chance meeting at the offices of EMI/Capitol Records in New York City in 2002, New Zealand’s Marla Kavanaugh and America’s Beloved Tenor, Daniel Rodriguez, were sent by the record company to tour Australasia as a duo, in support of Daniel’s second studio album and they’ve been touring ever since.
Marla Kavanaugh is an award-winning Musical Theater and Opera singer. Born in Dunedin, New Zealand, a move to the USA in the 1990s enabled her to grow her career in ways that she had only dreamed of. She has performed as a leading lady with orchestra in Japan and all over the USA. Her album, Songbirds, with twin sister Marissa, is available worldwide and she is a guest on four of Daniel’s albums.
Daniel Rodriguez is best known as “the singing policeman.” He was already singing at major events in New York and Washington when the horrific events of 9/11 transpired. A tap on the shoulder to sing at Prayer for America in the days following the tragedy thrust him into national and international view. Daniel caught the eye of legendary tenor, Placido Domingo, and studied with him soon after, as well as the attention of New York recording executives. To date, Daniel has released seven studio albums.

At LondonHouse Chicago, It Starts Here.
