Charminar is the foremost monument of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. This becomes a famous landmark globally as a symbol of Hyderabad. The Charminar was built in 1591 AD, by the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty, Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. The Charminar is also recognized as one of the top 10 monuments of India. Charminar is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hyderabad. Charminar is a grand architecture in Indo-Islamic design and also has significant worth in history because of its structure & constructor. The Charminar monument is located on the east bank of the Musi River. According to legend, the Hyderabad region was reeling from a devastating plague at the time that Muḥammad Qulī Quṭb Shah was shifting his capital from nearby Golconda to the new city. He commemorated the end of the plague by building a mosque, which became known as Charminar because of its four towering and distinctive minarets, one on each of the building’s four corners. It formed the centerpiece around which Hyderabad was planned.

The Charminar is constructed by granite & lime mortar with precious ornaments. It’s square structure has 66 feet or 20 meter from every side. Each side faces one of the cardinal directions and has a pointed arch that is 36 feet (11 metres) wide at the base and reaches 66 feet high at its apex. A multisided column rises on each corner of the structure and, atop a lotus-leaf base, continues upward until it culminates in a minaret with a dome-shaped roof 160 feet (49 metres) above the ground. This monument has two stories. The first one was constructed for the Islamic college (Madarsha) in Qutb Shahi era. And at the second story he has build a small masque. From the roof of Charminar people can enjoy panoramic view of hydrabad city.
